Discover the historic town of Geneva on the eleventh-annual Geneva History Museum Trolley Tours, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, June 24, 25, and 26 during the annual summer festival Swedish Days. The museum hosts trolley tours with a different route each year that includes a 40-45 minute ride in an air-conditioned trolley. A guide will share stories of historic homes, buildings, events and people along with rare images from the museum’s collection.
Tours leave every hour on the hour from 12 PM to 4 PM each day at the south east corner of South Third and Campbell Streets. The route will include places mentioned in the museum’s Feature Gallery exhibition “Through the Eyes of Geneva, A Local Perspective on 25 Years of American History” including presidential visits, women’s suffrage, civic pride, and how Geneva’s people have continually helped shape the American story.
Learn the story behind why President Reagan visited St. Peter Catholic School in 1982 and questions the students asked him. Discover how a manufacturing company contributed to war efforts and won national recognition. Listen to personal accounts of how Geneva was affected by the 1985 hijacking of TWA Flight 847. View homes where suffragette meetings were held and of a nurse who was one of the first to travel overseas to assist in World War I.
Registration is limited with 30 seats per tour at $25/person and can be made in advance here or by calling 630-232-4951. Tours include all day admission to the Geneva History Museum and a swag bag full of offers from museum partners including The Little Traveler, State Street Jewelers, Stockholm’s, Country Village Meats, and more. The nonprofit museum is located at 113 South Third Street with a mission to preserve and share Geneva’s evolving story while inspiring and engaging the community.
